I started writing in what I thought would be a hobby. I wrote on weekends. An early riser, I would boot up my computer, grab a cup of coffee and type away, all the while attempting to fire up my imagination. Luckily, my better half slept in late on weekends. This took place during my full-time employment in the financial sector. Switching caps from money issues to creativity was difficult. I kept at it though. Somewhere between the first word and the last, I created something I felt proud of.
Was I crazy to take early retirement to pursue my dreams? Maybe. I had put in enough years at my company to allow me the option. Friends and family encouraged me. What started out as a pastime became my passion. Do I miss getting up at the same time every day, grabbing the same bus and joining in the hustle and bustle of work? No. Do I feel fulfilled to be doing something I enjoy? More than I thought possible.
Three books later, my trilogy is complete. The final installment of The Crystal Series will be released in September. I have already started work on developing my new continuing series and have seven chapters down. My point in all this is to never think you cannot do something. Even a few sentences, written when able, can be the start of your story. Never give up, never give in. We all have our own voice. Follow your passions. If not writing, then do anything that inspires you.
Drop me a line in what moves you.
