My Top Five Halloween Movies

So here are my top five Halloween movies.

I love Halloween, but hate horror movies. I’m too easily frightened, and the blood and gore gets too real for me. So, I prefer a more humourous or supernatural movie for this season. Below are my favorites.

At Number Five:

Released back in 1988, this movie still makes me laugh.

“The spirits of a deceased couple are harassed by an unbearable family that has moved into their home and hire a malicious spirit to drive them out.”

At Number Four

The Witches

Another oldie, released in 1990, which still shines today. Anjelica Huston especially makes this movie.

“A young boy stumbles onto a witch convention and must stop them, even after he has been turned into a mouse.”

At Number Three

Hocus Pocus

Another favorite, released in 1993, is a playful take on the Halloween spirit.

“A curious youngster moves to Salem, where he struggles to fit in before awakening a trio of diabolical witches that were executed in the 17th century.

At Number Two

Practical Magic

What could be better than Sandra Bullock. Well, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman together. The movie did not get great reviews, but I absolutely love it.

“Two witch sisters, raised by their eccentric aunts in a small town, face closed-minded prejudice and a curse which threatens to prevent them ever finding lasting love.”

At Number One

The Witches of Eastwick

Wonderful fun in this 1987 release. Hilarious Jack Nicholson as Satan, with Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer rounding out the cast.

“Three single women in a picturesque village have their wishes granted, at a cost, when a mysterious and flamboyant man arrives in their lives.”
