Top Five - On my To Watch List

THIS WEEKS TOP FIVE—ON MY DECEMBER WATCH LIST

I cut cable this month. Between Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney +, and Crave, I haven’t watched regular television in quite a while. There are so many shows, with no commercials, to view on my subscriptions I don’t miss cable.  Below are this weeks top five shows on my December watch list. Are these on yours?

THIS WEEKS TOP FIVE—ON MY DECEMBER WATCH LIST
December 5
V Wars (Season 1) – Netflix

Based on a comic book series, V Wars follows Doctor Luther Swann (played by Ian Somerhalder of Vampire Diaries fame) as he attempts to stop a mysterious disease that turns humans into vampires.

While trying to stop the spread of this disease, he must also deal with his best friend, Michael Fayne (Adrian Holmes,19-2, Skyscraper). who becomes infected. And, as if Fayne turning into a murderous predator wasn’t enough, things get worse for Swann when his friend becomes the powerful leader of the vampires.

With more and more people infected, society cracks and a war between vampires and humans appears inevitable. Unless, Swann figures out how to stop the virus from propagating.

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (Season 3, Amazon Original)

I’ve absolutely loved this series from the start. Quirky, delightful and zany, Midge’s foray into stand up comedy brings the comedy home. The costumes are incredible, the acting superb and the time period comes alive.

In season three, Midge and Susie discover that life on tour with Shy is glamorous but humbling, and they learn a lesson about show business they’ll never forget. Joel struggles to support Midge while pursuing his own dreams. Abe embraces a new mission and Rose learns she has talents of her own.

I’m looking forward in seeing where her journey takes her.

December 13
The Expanse (Season 4, Amazon Original)

What can I say about this show. Back in season one, it took me a few episodes to get into the story. But, once that hurdle passed, I never looked back. After its cancellation by Sy-Fy, I was thrilled that Amazon picked it up. The Expanse is based on a series of science fiction novels by James S. A. Corey, which I am thinking of reading.

If you need a quick refresher of the intricate series of events, or have never watched the series, I recommend this 15 minute video from Amazon with Kevin Smith explaining everything that has already unfolded in Seasons 1 to 3.

With 1300 new worlds within reach, a new interplanetary “land rush” has begun. The UN charges the crew of the Rocinante to settle a land dispute on its new colony world “New Terra.” Meanwhile, the OPA begins transitioning the Behemoth to become an outpost and gatekeeper to humanity’s new frontier.

The Witcher – Netflix

Based on the book series by Andrzej Sapkowski the show follows the story of Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, who struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Intrigued? So am I. I love a good fantasy, and I’m willing to give this one a try. Starring Henry Cavill, the trailer enticed me.

Lost In Space (Season 2) – Netflix

Ok, the first season was not all I thought it should be but I’m willing to see where the story goes. They always make the synopsis sound wonderful.

“There’s more danger — and adventure — ahead for the Robinson family! With the Jupiter 2 stranded on a mysterious ocean planet without their beloved Robot, the Robinsons must work together, alongside the mischievous and manipulative Dr. Smith and the always charming Don West, to make it back to the Resolute and reunite with the other colonists. But they quickly find all is not as it seems. A series of incredible new threats and unexpected discoveries emerge as they look for the key to finding Robot and safe passage to Alpha Centauri. They will stop at nothing to keep their family safe … survival is a Robinson specialty after all.”
