Synopsis: What would you do if you suddenly discovered that nothing about life was as you thought it was and all your choices seem to have been made for you centuries before you were born? That’s the reality young Alexa faces, and how well she copes will determine the fate of her world and that of the preternatural. Now, if only someone would explain what is going on!

For eighteen-year-old Alexa finding a place to put down roots after being forced into a nomadic life by her paranoid mother was not as simple as she had believed. Her attempt to settle down in the coastal town of Beverly comes to an abrupt halt. Within months an explosion levels her apartment building, and all her preconceived ideas of her world come to an end.

Now on the run, Alexa can only follow Bet, her roommate, into the unknown, where the worlds of the Sidhe race of faeries, warlocks, daemons, and shadows, threaten her very existence. Pulled into a prophecy that she together with Aidan, the Sidhe Prince, would right their worlds, Alexa finds herself fighting against the prophecy’s telling of her being bound to Aidan. What makes it worse is her increasing attachment to his brother Liam. With her destiny set centuries ago, can she save their worlds in time, does she have a choice in whom to love, or will choosing her own path lead to their destruction?

Q&A:

What are your five favorite books, and why?

The All Souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness
The Allure Chronicles by Alyssa Rose Ivy
The Shadowhunter series by Cassandra Clare
Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling
Lord of the Rings books by J. R. R. Tolkien
I guess that is more than five, but I love a good series. These are some of my favorites as they deal with paranormal and fantasy. I tend to gravitate to these books.

What do you read for pleasure?

Mostly young adult, paranormal, fantasy. I also love an occasional spy thriller, crime or romance book.

Describe your desk

Neat, tidy. I hate clutter. The only thing on my desk is my large screen and the laptop it feeds off of. Ok, I also have an iPad plugged in and charging.

Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?

I grew up in and around Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I don’t know if this influenced me at all. I was a loner in my youth, with my nose stuck in a book. Anything I read probably had more influence on my writing.

When did you first start writing?

Three years ago as a serious effort. I think I started and deleted about ten previous works before I actually sat down and committed to finishing something. I was close to early retirement, looking for something to occupy my time, and I found a passion for the writing. I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be doing.

What’s the story behind your latest book?

The conflict between free choice and having it taken away from you. My heroine is bound by one brother while wanting the other. Along with that is a quest, a prophecy she has been dragged into.

What motivated you to become an indie author?

I love to discover indie authors and find that a majority of them are better than some published ones. The option to self-publish was an easy one for me. I hope that others also look to new authors when buying books.

What is the greatest joy of writing for you?

When my characters drive the story. It is stunning how I can start in one direction but a character takes me in another. A lot of times they teach me more about myself.
